Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Redwood Falls, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM / Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule Commitment: Every other weekend or every 3rd weekend
Job Description
- Provide nursing care in Labor and Delivery, including Antepartum, OB Triage, Labor and Delivery, and Post-Partum areas.
- Must be competent in all aspects of OB/L&D nursing care.
- Traveler’s primary residence must be more than 25 miles from the facility.
- Start date: ASAP, any Monday.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Experience in Antepartum nursing care
- Experience in Post-Partum nursing care
Required Certifications
- Fetal Heart Monitoring certification.
Required Background and Compliance
- Criminal background check within 1 year of start, including:
- 7-year search, SS trace, counties, sex offender, nationwide.
- Education verification (diploma acceptable in lieu of third-party verification).
- International background checks if candidate has lived/worked outside the U.S.
- Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint clearance required before start (no starts with fingerprints pending unless approved “more time needed” letter).
- GSA/SAM and OIG excluded provider checks required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test (N95 options: Halyard Fluid Shield or 3M 1860).
- Tdap vaccination required (no religious declinations accepted).
- TB screening per Minnesota state guidelines (2-step PPD or equivalent testing).
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof via positive titer or 2 vaccines; must provide documentation or lab work within 48 hours of start.
- Varicella immunity proof required (positive titer or 2 vaccines).
- Hepatitis B vaccination, positive titer, or declination accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required annually (decliners must wear a mask).
- Drug testing: 9-panel test within 1 year of start (not required for client clearance but must be set up).
Competency and Documentation
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required annually (not required for NICU RNs).
- Skills checklist required for all clinical candidates.
- Two references from recent employers within 2 years required.
- State license primary source verification required.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge: grey background, no selfies, JPG format with first/last name.
- Dress code must be reviewed prior to start.
- Confidentiality agreement must be signed before starting.
- Education modules completed during orientation (approx. 16 hours).
- Candidates must return badges to manager on last day of assignment.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete the Minnesota DHS NetStudy Fingerprint Questionnaire immediately after signing the contract to proceed with fingerprinting.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 2 weeks of registration; if not near a livescan location, travel may be required.
- Background checks and immunizations must be current and compliant before start date.
This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs who hold the required certifications and are ready for a 13-week travel assignment with a 3x12 hour shift schedule in Minnesota.
