Description
Job Opportunity: Oncology Chemo Certified Registered Nurse
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care for patients with hematological malignancies, bone marrow transplant, CAR-T therapy, chemotherapy administration, and solid oncology diagnoses.
- Patient ratio approximately 1:4.
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM).
- Floating within the scope of skillset as needed across multiple campuses.
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend.
- Charting system: EPIC.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Chemotherapy certification.
- IV Certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing contract.
- Pass/fail testing required for EKG, IV therapy/infusion, and dysrhythmia competency exams within 72 hours of signing.
- Candidates have up to 3 attempts to pass each exam; failure after 3 attempts results in cancellation.
- Remediation provided after first failed attempt.
- NIH Stroke Certification required if applicable to unit.
- Annual education sign-off and safety manual acknowledgment required prior to start.
Additional Requirements
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
- Two professional references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.
- Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates, covering at least 1 year prior to start with no gaps over 30 days.
- Skills checklist must be completed and updated annually.
- Floating policy acknowledgment required for every new assignment or site transfer.
- Time off requests must be submitted and approved before offer.
- Block scheduling is not approved.
