Description
Job Opportunity: Wound Care Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Wound Care
- Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:00 AM – 5:00 PM or 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM)
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
- First-time travelers: Accepted
- Weekend shifts: Not required
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: Not required
- Block scheduling: Accommodated
- Local candidates: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
- Pending license: Accepted
- Electronic Health Record: Epic experience required

Required Certifications and Licenses
- License: Valid Registered Nurse license for Minnesota (primary source verification required)
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only, RQI acceptable, certificate of completion not accepted
- WOCN (Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing certification) – CWCN required, CWON preferred
- Additional Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable per unit (review unit-specific requirements)
- Competency Exams: Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and general competency exam required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) – required, no declinations accepted without approved exemption
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or acceptable history documentation)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella – proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer required, no exemptions for patient-facing roles
- Hepatitis B – proof of immunity, vaccination series, or signed declination required
- Varicella – proof of immunity or vaccination series required, no exemptions accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start (RespSafety virtual questionnaire)
- Drug testing: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (not required for client clearance)
Background and Screening
- Criminal background check within 1 year, including:
- MN Statewide 7-year criminal search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 1 year
- Minnesota DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed unless “more time needed” letter is provided)
- MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) check required for candidates who have lived in Minnesota
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of contract signing
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific preorientation online modules within 72 hours of receiving login (3–9 hours depending on specialty)
- Skills checklist required annually
- Medication and competency exams required prior to or at start
Additional Information
- Parking: First day free parking validated; subsequent parking fees apply depending on shift and location
- Facility is latex-free; notify if candidate has latex allergy
- Guaranteed hours subject to client cancellation policy (client may cancel up to 3 shifts without penalty)
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days onsite per week
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Minnesota
- Minimum of 1 year of wound care experience, with wound care experience within the last year
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) certification
- Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing (WOCN) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience working with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Summary
This is a travel contract opportunity for a Wound Care RN with at least 1 year of experience, working day shifts in a Level 3 trauma teaching hospital in Saint Paul, MN. Candidates must have Minnesota RN licensure, BLS and WOCN certification, and Epic experience. Comprehensive health, background, and competency requirements must be met prior to start. First-time travelers are welcome; local candidates within 100 miles are not accepted.
