Medical Lab Scientist - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Required to float between multiple hospital locations.
- Initial training and orientation on day shift for the first two weeks before transitioning to contracted night shift.
- Night shift schedule: 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (21:00 - 7:30).
- Every other weekend required, plus 1 holiday if it falls within the contract period.
- Blood Bank unit performs routine and specialized compatibility testing and prepares blood components for transfusion, supporting pediatric and adult patients.
- Staffing volume: approximately 15,000 samples.
Required Qualifications
- Medical Lab Scientist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
- Certification: ASCP-MLS or ACP-BB (Medical Laboratory Scientist certification required).
- Proficient in ABO/Rh/Antibody Screen & ID, Electronic Crossmatch, and Indirect Coombs Test.
Additional Information
- Must comply with facility-specific documents and orientation requirements prior to start.
- IU Health policy effective 11/30/24 restricts Indiana RN travelers except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable to this role).
- On-site Fit Mask testing generally not required for Medical Lab Scientists at this facility.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
