Description
Dialysis Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Work Setting: Adult Acute Care Inpatient Dialysis
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:6
- Floating: May be required to float within skillset
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Holiday Requirement: Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Charting System: EPIC experience required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year dialysis experience, with dialysis experience within the last year
- Experience in an inpatient setting
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- Ability to cannulate AV grafts
- Ability to cannulate AV fistulas
- Dialysate conductivity testing
- Management of tunneled and non-tunneled catheters
- Troubleshooting arterial pressure alarm
- Troubleshooting blood leak detector
- Troubleshooting conductivity alarm
- Troubleshooting venous pressure alarm
- Experience with Epic
Additional Requirements
- Prior Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
- Locals: Not accepted (must meet radius rule criteria)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Fit test within 1 year, updated annually (masks specified)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Flu vaccination documentation or mask/declination form during flu season
- References: Two clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Employment Application: Complete application or resume required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
- Photo: Professional photo required for badge (no selfies or filters)
- Driver’s License/State ID: Must have valid ID with address more than 100 miles from facility (time sensitive)
- E-Verify: Required
- Orientation: Review of contract staff orientation manual prior to start (not required for inpatient RNs)
Policies
- Call Off: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Return to Office (RTO): All requests must be submitted with application
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level I Trauma Center with Magnet designation for nursing excellence, providing advanced specialty care in a teaching hospital environment.
