Respiratory Therapist Position - Illinois, Peoria

Job Details

• Specialty: Respiratory Therapy
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights (12-hour shifts, 18:30–07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (both days and nights)
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Call Requirement: No call or standby call
• Floating: No floating within Respiratory Therapy
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs; scrubs are not provided

Patient Population & Work Environment

• Care for general medical, intermediate, and ICU patients (adults, pediatrics, and neonates)
• Experience required in a large critical care facility (300+ beds)
• Must not have worked at this facility in the past year
• Hospitalist and Intensivist available 24/7
• Respiratory Manager/Team Lead present on each shift as a resource (does not take patient assignments)

Equipment Familiarity

• Ventilators: Servo U, Servo i, LTV
• Bipap/Cpap: ResMed S9
• Heated High Flow: Fisher Paykel
• Trilogy for Bipap and Cpap

Orientation & Training

• 12 hours of department-specific orientation including EPIC training, ventilator review, IPV, and specialty items
• Followed by two 12-hour shifts with a preceptor before working independently
• Orientation hours are non-billable

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Respiratory Therapist license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC; preference for RRT
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA)
• Experience in critical care settings
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels (drug-free campus policy)

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within a 50-mile radius are accepted
• No call-off penalties; equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty
• Approximately 26-28 treatments per day based on AARC point system
