Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Job Overview
- Contract role
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour day shifts
- Orientation includes 2 unit-based 12-hour shifts
Location

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ED - Emergency Department (3 years of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- TNCC
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- TPA administration
- Procedural sedation
- Code blue experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Triage experience
- First-time traveler status may be considered with strong experience
Clinical Setting
- Level IV trauma center
- Level III NICU
- Advanced comprehensive stroke center
- Teaching hospital
- Geriatric accredited center
- 228-bed facility
- Emergency department has 35 beds and 6 fast track rooms
- Average daily volume: 168 patients
- Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics
- Heavy mental health population
- Trauma, invasive neuro, STEMI requiring cath lab stabilization and transfer
Unit Details
- Day and night patient ratio: 1:4, acuity based
- Fast track ratio: 1:6
- 24/7 support includes unit secretary, ED techs, RT, physicians, mid-level providers, ED educator, and security
- Central and bedside telemetry monitoring available
Skills Needed
- IV skills
- Basic knowledge of critical care drips and medication administration
- Blood administration
Scheduling
- Every-other-weekend rotation
- No call required
- Holiday expectation: 2 of 4 major holidays or every other
