Critical Care ICU Neurology RN

Overview

• Contract role
• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour day shift
• First-time travelers accepted

Setting

• Intensive care unit with neurocritical and non-neuro ICU overflow patients
• Level III trauma center
• Magnet designated
• Comprehensive stroke center
• 933-bed facility
• Unit has 27 beds

Patient Population

• Ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes, seizures, spinal surgeries, brain mass resections/biopsies, and other neurocritical cases
• Medical respiratory overflow and general medical ICU overflow

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Neuro ICU experience within the last year
• 4 years of Neuro ICU experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Experience with Epic

Required Skills

• Ventilators
• Tracheostomies
• Arterial lines
• Vasopressor management
• Sedation management
• Central line blood draws

Preferred Experience

• CVVH/CRRT
• EVD

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday
• No on-call requirement
• Shift times: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM or 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Schedule follows 6-week increments
• Up to 7 days of time off may be approved

• NEO
• 1 shift of unit orientation

Floating

• ED holding
• Other ICU units
• Medical-surgical unit
• Sitter
• PACU surge

• Free parking
• Scrubs: any solid color without graphics, logos, or designs
• Weekly hours may not exceed 60, and no more than 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts are allowed
