Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• Start times may include 7:00 AM–7:30 PM or 11:00 AM–11:30 PM
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday during non-winter periods; 2 of 3 winter holidays
• No call
• Scheduling requests may be considered, but block scheduling is not guaranteed

Unit Overview

• Medical-surgical telemetry unit with infusion/oncology patient population
• 27 beds
• Typical patient ratios: days/evenings 1:4–5; nights 1:6, with occasional higher ratios up to 1:7
• Common patient types include oncology/hematology, general medical, GI bleed, PE/DVT, sepsis, CHF/COPD, pneumonia, failure to thrive, and weakness

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Med Surg / Telemetry (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience with acute care complex patients
• Experience with drips and titrating drips (insulin, heparin, cardizem, nitro, amiodarone, octreotide, blood transfusions)

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior travel experience

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate drips as needed
• Manage blood transfusions
• Be telemetry aware; central telemetry techs read strips, so nurses are not required to read their own strips

Support / Resources

• Charge nurse and house supervisor on all shifts
• Nurse aides available
• Respiratory therapy support available 24/7
• Floating required first within med-surg units; outside med-surg only for observer support or helping hands/tasking

Orientation

• 1 day of computer training, CBT, and regulatory education
• 1 floor shift of 12 hours

Dress Code

• Any scrub color is allowed
• No logos from other health systems

Additional Notes

• Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local
• Travelers may be asked to step into charge if comfortable, especially on night shift
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• If previously worked there, there must be an end date at least 6 months before submission
