Description
Emergency Department Registered Nurse
Overview
- Contract role
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour evening shifts
- Orientation includes 1 unit-based 12-hour shift
- No floating required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 3 years of Emergency Department experience
- Emergency Department experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- TNCC
Preferred Experience
- Triage experience
Clinical Setting
- Level IV trauma center
- Level III NICU
- Advanced comprehensive stroke center
- Teaching hospital
- Geriatric-accredited center
- 35-bed emergency department with 6 fast track rooms
- Average daily volume: 168 patients
Patient Population
- Neonates through geriatrics
- Heavy mental health population
- Invasive neuro cases
- STEMI cases requiring cath lab stabilization and transfer
- Trauma cases including gunshot wounds, stabbings, falls, and motor vehicle collisions
Key Responsibilities / Skills
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- IV skills
- Basic knowledge of critical care drips and medication administration
- TPA administration
- Blood administration
- Procedural sedation
- Code blue response
Schedule
- Shift time: 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Weekend rotation: every other weekend as needed
- No call required
- Holiday expectation: 2 of 4 major holidays or every other holiday

- Unit secretary available 24/7
- ED tech available 24/7
- Charge nurse support
- Phlebotomy support
- Respiratory therapy available 24/7
- ED physicians available 24/7
- Mid-level providers available 24/7
- ED educator
- Occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy support
- Security support with locked unit and lobby-based home base
