Registered Nurse - Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Belleville, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:45 - 7:15)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Patient Ratio: 1:5-6
- Unit Type: Acute Care Hospital, Telemetry Unit
- Unit Size: 40 staffed beds on unit, 222 beds in facility
- Charting System: EPIC
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Parking: Free
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments involving long-term care or rehab units
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or declination (with exceptions for certain units)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Regulatory compliance education and facility orientation modules required annually
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required annually
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Color blind testing required (online)
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Locals accepted within 75-mile radius
Special Notes
- No guaranteed hours beyond scheduled 36 hours/week
- Return-to-office restrictions: no more than 7 days
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
- Candidates must adhere to facility policies or risk removal from shifts
This position offers a night shift travel contract opportunity for experienced telemetry RNs with required certifications and specialty skills in cardiac care. The role involves working in a magnet-designated acute care hospital with a focus on high-risk telemetry patients.
