PCU RN Travel/Contract Job
Overview
- Location: Roanoke, Virginia
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Shift: Night, 4x12 hours, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Scheduling: 3x12s is standard; 4x12s available by request
- Weekend requirement: May be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Holiday requirement: One holiday per 13-week contract
- Floating: Required within skillset
- Locals accepted: Yes
- First-time travelers accepted: Yes, travel experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Neuro PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
- Experience with Epic
Clinical Skills
- Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
- Emergency response
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Medication administration, including cardiac drips without titration
- Respiratory support, including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown units
Unit Notes
- Telemetry PCU specializing in stroke and neurology care
- Remote telemetry with monitors remaining on the unit
- Typical patient ratio is 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4

- Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing

- Education verification of highest earned degree required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
