Description

Step Down RN Travel Contract

Overview

Location: Roanoke, Virginia
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (6:45 PM–7:15 AM)
Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Ventilator care experience for chronic trach patients
Cardiac monitoring
Emergency response
Dysrhythmia interpretation/management
Rapid Response and Code team activation
Experience with Epic

Schedule and Assignment Details

May require every-other-weekend coverage or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
One holiday required per 13-week contract
Floating required within skillset
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Clinical Focus

Stepdown surgical PCU role
Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and line care
Respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP
Rapid response and code team activation
Isolation precautions and telemetry monitoring

Unit Environment

Typical patient ratio: 1:5
Staffing goal: 1:4
Includes chronic trach patients and backup support for trauma/surgical care

Additional Notes

Locals are accepted
Drivers license or state ID is required within 48 hours of signing
2 clinical references required
