Description

Medical Surgical RN

Overview

  • Location: Wilmington, North Carolina
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Start flexibility: 36 or 48 hours accepted
  • Local candidates: Accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Med Surg (2 years of experience)
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Ability to manage heparin drips
  • Colostomy care and management
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • PICC line management
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Traumatic brain injury care
  • Surgical drain management
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Skills

  • PCA
  • Colostomy care
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • Peripheral line care and management
  • Phlebotomy
  • PICC line management
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • O2 protocol management
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Isolation precautions/PPE
  • Traumatic brain injury care
  • Ortho trauma care

Work Setting Details

  • Patient ratio: 1:5–6
  • Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding
  • Every other weekend required
  • Navy scrubs

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Management of drips
  • CVA experience
  • Pre/post neuro surgery experience
  • Spinal cord injuries experience

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Storm team and/or hurricane team assignment may be required
  • May be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
  • Unit orientation includes 12 hours on the unit and 16 hours of organizational education
