Description

Registered Nurse, Med/Surg

Location: Gardner, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 40-hour evening shift, 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm, every other weekend and holiday

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts
  • Med Surg (1 year of experience)
  • Med Surg experience within the last year

Preferred Experience

  • 1 year of Med/Surg experience
  • 1 year of Telemetry experience
  • 1 year of Pediatrics experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care
  • Provide patient care according to standards, protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Educate patients and families based on learning needs
  • Prepare patients and families for discharge
  • Delegate and supervise nursing interventions
  • Prioritize patient care and respond to emergencies as needed
  • Document patient data, interventions, and responses accurately and on time
  • Report patient status to the care team to support continuity of care
  • Promote learning for colleagues and self
  • Identify and report patient safety risks and errors
  • Address ethical issues in care
  • Administer medications and intravenous therapy
  • Assess and manage pain
  • Complete medication reconciliation documentation
  • Interpret and document cardiac rhythm and related findings
  • Provide ongoing assessment and teaching for surgical patients
  • Recognize abnormal progress and report concerns promptly
  • Use pain management devices and related equipment
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot surgical patient equipment
