Description

Labor and Delivery

Job Overview

  • Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 20 weeks
  • Start preference: August 24 or September 8
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call requirement: None
  • RTO restriction: No RTO for the first 8 days of the contract

Unit Details

  • 15-bed LDRP unit with 3 triage bays and 2 operating rooms
  • Nurses provide antepartum, labor and delivery, OR circulating, scrub nurse, newborn care at delivery, and couplet care
  • Nurses also perform lab draws and newborn hearing screens
  • Patient staffing follows AWHONN guidelines

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Michigan
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • AWHONN Intermediate or NCC C-EFM
  • Fetal heart monitoring (FHM) triage experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWHONN Advanced
  • Scrub

Work Expectations

  • Will work in all areas of LDRP
  • May float to sitter coverage in the house when needed
  • May float to labor and delivery and mother baby when census and need arise

Additional Notes

  • Scrubs are provided
  • Training will be provided for newborn infant hearing screens using the ALGO 5 machine
  • EPIC documentation is used
