Description

PCU Float

Overview

Travel/contract RN position in Roanoke, Virginia
Night shift: 4x12 hours, 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
Contract length: 13 weeks
Must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units
Floating may occur 2–3 times per shift

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
BLS issued by American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
Skill in central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac)
Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, titrating cardiac drips, and responding to emergencies via Rapid Response/Code teams
Capability in managing PCA and heparin protocols, administering IV insulin, and handling endocrine/metabolic conditions
Telemetry experience
Experience with Epic

Scheduling and Assignment Details

Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
First-time travelers are accepted
Local candidates are accepted under the radius rule
All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be included with the submission
Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

EPIC experience required
PCU average ratio: 5:1
MS average ratio: 6:1, with possible flex to 7:1
