Med/Surg 2 Cardiac

Job Overview

• Contract role
• 12-hour evening shift
• 36 hours per week
• Floating to other medical-surgical areas in rotation

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Cardiac Stepdown (2 years of experience)
• Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
• 2 or more years of total travel experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Med Surg experience
• Pre/Post Cath Lab experience
• Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience / Skills

• High-acuity cardiac step-down and post-procedure cardiac patients
• General medical-surgical care
• Cardiac drips: amiodarone, Cardizem
• Pre- and post-cardiac cath care, including femoral and radial access
• Chest tube care
• Non-titrating nitro
• Non-titrating dobutamine
• Post-pacemaker care
• Sheath removal and sheath site monitoring

Schedule / Workflow

• Weekend rotation every 3rd weekend
• No on-call requirement
• Orientation: 1–2 shifts
• Time off requests require manager approval

Unit Support

• Charge nurse takes patient assignment
• Phlebotomy is shared with RNs for blood draws
• Respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Hospitalist available 24/7
• OT, PT, and ST available
• IV team available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on day shift only
