Description
Rehab Unit
Job Overview
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Employment type: Contractor
- Shift: 12-hour night shift
- Hours per week: 36
- Orientation: 8 hours
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- 1 year of rehabilitation experience
- Rehabilitation experience within the last year
- BLS certification
- Med Surg experience
- First-time travelers accepted
Patient Population
- Physical medicine rehabilitation
- Stroke, neuro, TBI, MS, Parkinson’s, LVAD, oncology, trachs, transplant
Skills / Clinical Experience
- IV pump use and IV insertion, including central, PICC, and midline catheter care
- Tube feeding pump use
- GI/PEG/NG tube management and care
- NG tube insertion
- Wound vac and wound care
- Indwelling catheter insertion and care
- Trach care and suctioning
- Laryngectomy care
- Drain care
- Management of behavior issues
Unit Details
- Inpatient rehabilitation unit with 45 beds
- Patient ratio for RNs: 1:4-5 on days, 1:6-7 on nights
- Floating may include other MedSurg areas and inpatient boarding
- Travelers float first
- Charge nurse may have a patient assignment
- Support available from hospitalist, respiratory therapy, and phlebotomy 24/7
Scheduling
- Weekend rotation every third weekend as needed
- Holidays every other as needed
- No on-call requirement
- Time off requests go through nurse manager
- Weekly fatigue policy limits staff to 60 hours or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
Additional Details
- Scrubs: any color except camo or denim; no Crocs
- Free parking in designated areas
