Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Tennessee
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
NIHSS
Knowledge of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
Chest tube management
Wound vac management

Unit Details

30-bed cardiac unit
Typical patient ratio: 5–6:1
Floating may include general medical-surgical, ortho, PCU, and medical-surgical surgical with oncology areas

Clinical Experience / Skills

Cardiac knowledge preferred
Experience with heparin, Cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, and amiodarone drips
Chest tube management
Wound vac management
EKGs as needed

Workflow / Expectations

Every-other-weekend schedule
Telemetry documentation, rhythm strip acknowledgment, and charting each shift
Bedside rounding and hourly rounding with 5P’s
Report known patient needs to PCTs at the start of and during shifts

Equipment / Systems

Telemetry equipment
Meditech documentation system
Pyxis dispensing system

Dress Code / Appearance

Navy scrubs for RNs
No artificial nails, gel nails, or gel nail polish
No graphics on undershirts
