Description
Behavioral Health RN
Overview
- Travel/contract registered nurse role in Roanoke, Virginia
- Night shift: 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
- 13-week assignment
- Adult inpatient medical-surgical unit with behavioral health and substance use focus
- 12-bed unit
- 1:6 patient ratio
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Psychiatric experience within the last year, with 1 year of psychiatric experience
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- CPI
- Med Surg experience
- Experience with Rapid Response and Code team protocols
- Proficiency with non-invasive airway management
- Experience with Epic
Scheduling and Assignment Details
- May be scheduled every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
- Must work one holiday per 13-week contract
- Requests for time off, block scheduling, and special scheduling must be included with submission
- May be required to float within skillset
- May be required to work as charge and precept
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
Candidate Eligibility
- First-time travelers are not accepted

Compliance and Onboarding
- Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM required within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG required within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire required
- Drug screen within 30 days of start
- 2 clinical references required
- Resume/application required
- Skills checklist required
Clinical Environment
- Adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
- Care includes stabilization, medication management, behavioral support, discharge planning, and recovery-oriented treatment
