Medical Surgical RN

Overview

• Travel/contract RN role in Roanoke, Virginia
• Night shift: 3x12s, 6:45 PM–7:15 AM
• Contract length: 26 weeks
• May be asked to float within skillset
• May be asked to work charge and precept

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• One completed travel assignment
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with peripheral line care/management, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen administration and tanks, and isolation precautions

Scheduling

• 1:6 patient ratio
• Weekend requirement may be every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week block
• One holiday required per 13-week contract
• 4x12 schedule available by request
• Up to 26 weeks available by request
• All RTO, block, and special scheduling requests must be included with submission

Unit Focus

• Adult inpatient care for patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders
• Care includes assessment, stabilization, treatment, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning

Compliance and Pre-Start Requirements

• Driver’s license or state ID required within 48 hours of signing
• E-Verify or attestation required
• 7-year background check required within 1 year of start
• Education verification of highest earned degree required
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Drug screen within 30 days of start
• 2 clinical references required
• Employment application/resume required
• Skills checklist required
• Photo for badge required
• New hire paperwork required before start
• Access and confidentiality agreement required within 48 hours of signing
• HIPAA acknowledgement required
• NURSYS verification required for RNs
• State license primary source verification required within 30 days of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination documentation or declination/masking requirement applies for the 2025–26 season
