Critical Care ICU RN

Contract Details

• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Employment type: Contractor
• Hours per week: 36
• Shift: 12-hour nights

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit (3 years of experience)
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS

Preferred Qualifications

• NIHSS
• Cardiovascular and cardiovascular surgery experience
• Experience with IABPs
• Experience with Impellas

Clinical Setting

• 17-bed ICU
• Level III trauma center
• Level II NICU
• Primary stroke center

Patient Population

• Sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, overdose, suicidal ideation, delirium, GI bleeds, strokes with TPA, ARF, COVID, DKA
• General surgery, open abdominal, ortho total joints, ENT, OBGYN
• Fem-pop, CABG, EVAR, valves, post-cath, AAA, amputations
• No complex neuro

Key Responsibilities and Skills

• Ventilator and trach management
• Invasive line management, including arterial lines, CVP, and Swan-Ganz
• Drains and chest tubes
• Foley management
• Post-surgical recovery
• Post-cath care
• CVVH and CRRT

Schedule and Work Expectations

• Every-other-weekend rotation
• 1 holiday per contract
• No on-call requirement
• RTO approval goes through the manager
• Travelers are first to float
• May float within scope to intermediate units, MSU, ED boarding, and observation units

Support and Orientation

• 1 day of orientation
• CNA support during day and night shifts
• Receptionist/HUC coverage from 0700-1930
• Charge nurse with occasional patient assignment
• PM ICU supervisor Monday through Friday
• Phlebotomy support for peripheral IV draws
• Educator support
• RT, hospitalist, and intensivist available 24/7
• ICU-specific pharmacist during days

Equipment and Systems

• EPIC preferred
• Alaris IV pumps
• Pyxis medication dispensing
• NxStage CRRT equipment

Additional Notes

• Any scrub color allowed except camo, graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking
• More than 2 sick calls may lead to contract review or termination
