Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Location

• Rockford, Illinois

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Shift

• Nights, 12 hours per shift

Schedule Expectations

• 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday

Setting

• Emergency Department
• Level I trauma center
• Burn center
• Comprehensive stroke center

Patient Population

• General emergency patients, including trauma, burn, stroke, geriatric, and some pediatric patients

Unit Details

• 21 beds plus a rapid medical evaluation area
• Fast track is available through the rapid medical evaluation area
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3-4, with flexibility based on volume
• Rapid medical evaluation area can have 6 patients
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and may take assignments if staffing requires
• ER techs are assigned to each area
• Respiratory therapy manages equipment in the department
• No call or standby requirement
• ER nurses do not typically float; if they do, it is for helping hands only

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS

Preferred Qualifications

• TNCC or TNS

Submission Requirements

• Last four digits of SSN
• Middle initial
• Requested time off

Orientation

• 2 twelve-hour shifts
• 12 hours of non-billable orientation

Additional Notes

• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• Professional scrubs in any color are allowed
• Hoodies are not allowed
• T-shirts must have the facility emblem
• Common emergency department drips are used
