Description
Registered Nurse — Emergency Department
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract Length
- 26 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend
- Holidays may be required based on department needs
- No call requirement
- Travelers are scheduled by the scheduling manager; block scheduling may be accommodated
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS
- ACLS
- ENPC or PALS
- TNCC or TNS
- Must be able to produce a negative drug screen
- Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted
Experience
- General nursing experience
- Preferred: 2 years of nursing experience
- Preferred: at least 1 prior travel assignment
Clinical Setting
- Level 1 emergency department
- 65 private beds
- Typical patient population includes newborns through elderly patients, including critically ill, stroke, heart attack, and trauma patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3–5, depending on acuity
- Travelers may care for stabilized trauma patients after transfer out of the trauma bay
Additional Notes
- ED nurses should be able to interpret and act on cardiac rhythms
- Nurses may need to titrate vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive drips
- Floating is rare and, if needed, would be as a help-all on another unit
- Scrubs: no specific color required; solid-colored shirts under scrubs only
