PACU RN
Location
Bronx, New York

Schedule
- Evenings
- 12-hour shifts
- 34 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care (1 year of experience)
- PACU - Post Anesthesia Care experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- PALS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Post-surgical patient care experience
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
Unit Details
- 11 beds
- Pre-op area has 8 bays
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2, or 1:3 if needed
Responsibilities
- Recover post-surgical patients
- Assess vital signs and level of consciousness
- Monitor for adverse reactions or complications
- Manage pain
- Provide patient education
- Administer medications
- Collaborate with the healthcare team
- Provide continuous observation until the patient is stable
Additional Information
- Charge nurse role is available and includes patient assignment
- Nurse aides are available
- Respiratory therapy support is available
- ICU patients may recover in PACU if an ICU bed is not yet available
- Unit-specific orientation is 1-2 days with a preceptor
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
