Required Qualifications
- Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
- Medical Technologist experience
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related specialty area
- AMT or ASCP
Experience and Responsibilities
- Performs laboratory testing and reports results for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease
- Works across laboratory areas including hematology, immunohematology, immunology, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, and therapeutic drug monitoring
- Performs phlebotomy, including arterial puncture, capillary puncture, and venipuncture
- Processes specimens, calibrates and maintains instruments, and performs quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Validates and reports test results in a timely manner
- Assists with laboratory policy and procedure manuals, orientation, teaching, and development of new procedures
- General supervisor responsibilities for waived, moderate, and high complexity testing after probation is completed
Work Conditions
- Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds
- Requires visual acuity correctable to 20/20 and color vision
- Involves standing, walking, kneeling, bending, fine motor skills, and manual dexterity
- Exposure to blood-borne pathogens and laboratory equipment noise
- Must be able to work in limited space with frequent interruptions and temperature variations
