Description

Labor and Delivery Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Charlotte, North Carolina
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours: 18:45–07:15
  • 36 hours per week
  • Contract length: 20 weeks
  • Locals accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience)
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
  • EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
  • Experience working with High Risk patients
  • Experience working with Neonate patients
  • Competency in sterile vaginal examination
  • Competency in immediate newborn care

Unit Details

  • Fast-paced, challenging labor and delivery unit
  • Double labor assignments occur daily
  • Typical ratios: 2:1
  • Average volume: 20 births in 24 hours, 30–40 admits, 40 visits per day, 20 rooms
  • Obstetrical patients 16 weeks and greater, including high-risk antepartum and postpartum care
  • Unit performs scheduled and unscheduled Cesarean births and rescue cervical cerclage
  • Strong preference for RN with circulate-to-OR experience

Schedule and Assignment Expectations

  • No call required
  • Float required as needed to a special maternity care high-risk OB unit
  • Every other weekend required, with a minimum of 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Up to 7 days of RTO allowed for auto-offer consideration

Orientation and Work Environment

  • Unit orientation: 24 hours
  • Scrubs provided in blue

Additional Notes

  • Contract accepted from 13 weeks up to a hard stop date in late February 2027
