Description
RN (Registered Nurse)
Location
- Peoria, Illinois
Contract
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour night shifts
Setting
- Surgical acute care unit
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS certification
Experience / Skills
- Post-op care experience
- Critical thinking skills
- Ability to ask for help when needed
- Good bedside manner
- Team-player mindset
Schedule
- 7:00 AM–7:30 PM for days; 7:30 PM–7:30 AM for nights
- Every other weekend
- Rotates every other holiday
- Travelers do not self-schedule
- Block scheduling may be considered if approved at the time of contract
Unit Details
- 63 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios: 4–5 on days, 5–6 on nights
- Ratios may increase to 6 on days and 7 on nights if needed
- Charge nurses do not take an assignment
- House supervisor is available 24/7
- Patient care techs assist with vitals, accu checks, ADLs, turning, and ambulation
- Some patients are on telemetry; bedside RNs do not read strips
- No vents on the unit
- CPAP and high-flow support are used
- RNs manage inhalers and may place patients on CPAP
- Travelers float first and float to units with the same level of experience
Orientation
- 2 shifts with a preceptor
- 1 additional 12-hour shift for EPIC and professional orientation with the unit educator
Other Notes
- Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
- Local clinicians receive an adjusted rate
- Drug screen required
- Requested time off, last four digits of SSN, and clinician middle initial are required for submission
