Description

ER Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Rochester, New York
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Contract length: 15 weeks
  • Accepts first-time travelers
  • Local RNs within 75 miles are not accepted
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: every other holiday, if needed
  • Floating: required within skillset

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
  • ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • TNCC
  • NIHSS
  • IV therapy including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV vasopressors
  • CPAP/BiPAP management
  • Ventilator management
  • Cardiac monitoring with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Stroke experience
  • Neuro Trauma experience
  • Ortho Trauma experience
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience / Skills

  • Adult emergency department care
  • IV therapy, including blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
  • IV vasopressors
  • CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator management
  • Stroke, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injury, and TBI care
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
  • Triage
  • Isolation precautions
  • Pediatric spinal cord injury care
  • Emergency care for adult and pediatric ED patients, including gunshot wounds and ortho trauma

Unit Details

  • Patient ratio: 1:5
  • Patient population includes adults and geriatrics
  • Special equipment includes Bair hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
  • Scrub color: any combination of navy blue and white

Notes

  • RTO/block scheduling requests must be submitted at time of application
