Description
PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Location: Rochester, New York
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Contract length: 8 weeks

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic
Clinical Experience / Skills
- Telemetry and stepdown-level care
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
- Nasal cannula and oxygen administration
- Non-invasive airway management
- Cardiac drip management without titration
- Blood product administration
- Central line and peripheral line care/management
- IV therapy and phlebotomy
- Isolation precautions
Schedule / Assignment Details
- Every other weekend required
- Must be available to work every other holiday if needed
- Float within skillset
- Requests for time off or special scheduling must be submitted with the application
- Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
Patient Population / Unit Details
- Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical ratio: 1:4-5
- Common diagnoses include long-term pulmonary patients, ENT surgery, and surgical patients needing stepdown-level care
Compliance / Onboarding
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Background check required
- Education verification required
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start
- Fit mask required within 1 year of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test renewal
- Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B immunity/documentation required
- Drug screen required within 30 days of start
- Flu vaccination or signed declination required during flu season
- Eye exam required within 1 year of start
- COVID vaccination documentation preferred but not required
