Description
Emergency Department RN
Overview
- Contract role
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour evening shift
- 14-week contract
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ED - Emergency Department (1 year of experience)
- ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- Strong intravenous (IV) skills
- Knowledge of STEMI, CVA, and Sepsis treatments
- Experience with Epic
Preferred
- TNCC
Experience and Skills
- First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years of emergency department experience
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and monitoring
- Foley placement and management
- NGT placement and management
- Medication titration
- General emergency department skills
Schedule
- Every other weekend
- No on-call
- 1 holiday expected
- 6-week schedule released 1–2 weeks in advance
Unit Details
- Emergency department with 20 beds, including 8 overflow and 4 CA chairs
- Average daily volume: 100–160 patients
- Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics
- 5%–8% pediatrics
- Behavioral health medical clearance cases included
Support and Workflow
- 24/7 receptionist/HUC support
- Charge nurse may take patients as needed and cover low-acuity patients
- 24/7 respiratory therapy support
- 24/7 hospitalist/PA support
- Bedside and nurses-station telemetry monitoring; no tele tech
- RN float duties are based on facility needs and do not include patient assignments
Orientation
- 1 shift of orientation
Additional Details
- EPIC experience required within the last 2 years
- Free parking
- Scrubs: any professional color, excluding camo, denim, and hoodies
