Registered Nurse, Operating Room
Overview
- Contract role in Gardner, Massachusetts.
- 13-week assignment.
- 40-hour day shift: 4/10-hour days, 6:30 am - 5:00 pm, with call rotation.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts.
- BLS.
- OR - Operating Room (1 year of experience).
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year.
Preferred Qualifications
- O.R. nursing experience.
- CNOR.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides perioperative nursing care in the operating room, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions and patient goals.
- Collaborates with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, clinical coordinator, and surgical technicians during surgical intervention.
- Maintains sterile fields, aseptic practice, and correct handling and sterilization of sterile supplies and instruments.
- Verifies patient identity, operative procedure, and site before transport to the operating room.
- Maintains sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
- Handles specimens and cultures according to policy.
- Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy.
- Documents care, patient responses, and medication reconciliation accurately and on time.
