Description
Crit Care: IU 2nd Floor ICU
Role Overview
- ICU contract role in Grafton, WI
- Unit has 17 beds
- 12-hour night shift, 36 hours per week
- Weekend rotation: every other
- No on-call
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Wisconsin
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (3 years of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- CRRT (NxStage) experience
- CVVH experience
Preferred Qualifications
- CRRT experience (Nxstage)
- NIHSS
- Fresh heart experience
- EPIC familiarity
Unit Details
- Patient types include COVID, sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, OD, SI, delirium, GIB, stroke with TPA, ARF, general surgery, open abdomen, ortho total joints, ENT, OBGYN, fem-pop bypass, CABG, valves, post cath radial approach, AAA, and amputations
- Does not take complex neuro post TNK/TPA
- RN ratio is 1:2, acuity based
- CNA ratio is 1:8 days and 1:17 nights
- Floating may include intermediate units, MSU, ED boarding, and observation units
- Travelers float first
Support on the Unit
- Charge nurse with occasional patient assignment
- Unit secretary
- Intensivist 24/7
- ICU-specific pharmacist on day shift only
- RT 24/7
- Phlebotomy team for peripheral draws
- Educator
- Bedside telemetry monitoring
Orientation and Scheduling
- 1 day of orientation
- First day includes meeting with educator for badge access, CBLs, and login access
- Meet and greet with nurse manager
- Remainder of the shift with a preceptor
- RTO is pending manager approval
Other Notes
- Scrub color: any color except camo, denim, or hoodies
- Free parking
- More than 2 sick calls may prompt discussion and possible contract termination
