Description
ICU
Role Overview
- Travel/Contract RN position in Batavia, New York.
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:00.
- 36 hours per week.
- Float required to med/surg.
- Weekend coverage: every other weekend.
- Locals are not accepted; candidates must live more than 75 miles away.
- Unit accepts first-time travelers on a case-by-case basis.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York.
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year.
- 2 years of ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience.
- One completed travel assignment.
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support issued by American Heart Association.
- NIHSS.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience with Epic.
Preferred
- COVID vaccination documentation.
- References for Aya candidates only.
Unit Details
- Patient population includes young adults through elderly patients.
- Common diagnoses include ventilated patients, titratable drips, substance abuse withdrawal, and cardiac, respiratory, neuro, GI, and post-op cases.
- Special procedures include A-lines, central lines, intubations, chest tubes, and open abdomens.
- Special equipment: glidescope.
- Skills listed include MICU, Neuro ICU, SICU, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure care, 12-lead EKG/ECG, IV insulin protocols, GI surgery, port care, arterial line management, blood product administration, central line and PICC management, IV starts, continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, procedural sedation administration/monitoring, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, CVA/acute stroke management, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, chest tube insertion/removal assistance, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilator care and management, fresh tracheostomy, HFNC, ABG interpretation, pulmonary edema, pulmonary embolism, respiratory failure, suctioning, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and phlebotomy.
