RN - BMC CRU
Location
- Normal, Illinois
Assignment Overview
- Clinical Resource Unit (float pool) nursing role providing care across multiple inpatient units, including Medical-Oncology, Surgical-Orthopedic, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Progressive Care Unit, Mental Health Unit, and Acute Rehab.
- Night shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Float experience within the last year
- 1 year of float experience
- Ability to manage care for both acute and chronically ill cardiac and pulmonary patients
- Skill in IV venipuncture and blood administration
- Skill in preparing patients for procedures and managing post-operative care
- Oncology experience
- Orthopedics experience
- CVICU experience
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
- Mental Health experience
- Rehabilitation experience

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
- Conduct and document assessments, nursing diagnoses, plans, implementation, and evaluation of patient care
- Act as a resource to staff from various units
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary team members
- Discharge patients and provide instruction for safe transition from hospital
- Ensure team huddles occur and attend them
- Answer call lights
- Provide post-operative care for the complex surgical population
- Delegate patient care tasks to assigned HCTs and validate completion
- Administer patient medications using the 5 Rights
- Receive bedside shift report at the beginning of each shift and update the patient communication board
