Description

Surg Tech 1 - Surgery

Overview

  • Surgical technology role supporting direct and indirect patient care and operative/invasive procedures.
  • Based in surgery.
  • Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
  • Contract length: 13 weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association.
  • Associate's degree in surgical technology or certificate of completion of a surgical technology program.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assists surgeon and performs operative/invasive procedures.
  • Sets up sterile field and prepares instruments, equipment, and sutures.
  • Scrubs on simple to complex procedures across a variety of specialties.
  • Performs first scrub, first assist, and second scrub roles.
  • Precepts, mentors, and trains surgical techs, RNs, and students.
  • Supports case preparation, case closing, turnover, and intra-op problem solving.
  • Takes on-call shifts outside scheduled hours, including after-hours, weekends, and holidays.
