Job Summary
Certified First Surgical Assistant Location: Illinois. This position involves providing surgical assistance within an acute care hospital setting, supporting cardiac, vascular, thoracic, and general surgeries in an outpatient and inpatient environment. The role requires collaboration with the surgical team to ensure safe and efficient procedures.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education, and Experience: Certified First Surgical Assistant certification, Illinois license active at time of submission, and 3-4 years of surgical assistant experience required. Subject to completion of all compliance and credentialing processes.
• Schedule: Days shift, 10-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Open to first-timers: Yes
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Work Setting Experience: Acute inpatient operating room, cardiac surgery, thoracic, vascular, outpatient surgery.
• Surgery Case Experience: Cardiac (e.g., Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Mitral Valve Replacement), vascular (e.g., Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid Endarterectomy), thoracic procedures, endoscopic procedures (e.g., Bronchoscopy, EGD, Laparoscopic-assisted cases), trauma involving amputations and gunshot/stab wounds.
• Equipment Experience: Case Cart, drills, electrosurgical units, fiber optic light source/cords.
• Professional Knowledge and Skills: Aseptic technique, infection control, laser safety, and other surgical support skills.
• Additional Requirements: On-call 1-2 times weekly, every 3-4 weekends, with a starting shift on Friday at 4:45 PM until Monday at 6:15 AM. Must meet compliance, credentialing, and onboarding requirements, including fingerprinting, module completion, and Illinois licensure prior to start.
• Travel Experience: Not required.
