RN - ICU
Overview
- Travel assignment in Independence, Missouri
- 11/30 start
- 48 hours per week guaranteed is an option
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Unit
- Progressive Care Unit
- Main Hospital
- 36 beds
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Missouri
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS
- ACLS
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- 1 year of experience in ICU - Intensive Care Unit
- Management of vasoactive drips
Preferred
- NIH Certification
Unit Details
- Patient ratios: 1:3 AM, 1:4 AM or 1:4 PM, 1:5 PM with patient care techs
- Typically total RN-based care with no techs unless stretched
- Secretaries are scheduled 7am-7pm in the PCU and are available for a number of resources
- Equipment includes BiPAP, Heated High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, Alaris IV pumps, and Kangaroo Feeding Pumps
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Floating area: Telemetry Unit
- Floating policy: PRN floats 1 time per week; FT/PT staff floats in a rotation based upon dates; bonus shifts always float first
Scheduling
- FT staff: 36 hours per week with every 3rd weekend rotation
- PT staff: 48 hours per week with every 3rd weekend rotation
- PRN 1 staff: 3 shifts in a 4-week period with 1 weekend shift requirement
- PRN 2 staff: 6 shifts in a 4-week period with 3 weekend shift requirements
- Rotating holiday schedule
Clinical Expectations
- Bedside shift report
- Hourly rounding
- Daily leadership rounds
- Central Line or PICC line placement
- Chest tube placements
Other Details
- Positive attitude and desire to work as a member of a team
- Required uniform: charcoal grey scrub tops with charcoal grey or black scrub bottoms; black or charcoal grey jackets, with the option to order unit specific jackets
