Radiation Therapist
Overview
- Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
- Setting: Clinical-Allied
- Schedule: Days; shifts vary within clinic hours of 6:00a-6:00p
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Radiation Therapist (1 year of experience)
- Radiation Therapist experience within the last year
- ARRT
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technologist program
- Experience in Educator roles
Preferred Qualifications
- Elekta experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Administers radiation therapy according to physician instructions and the patient’s treatment plan
- Enters data into computer systems and adjusts equipment to regulate dosage
- Assists physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and others in preparing physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans
- Constructs patient immobilization devices as ordered
- Maintains patient and billing records, reports, and files according to department policies and procedures
- Performs routine and complex radiation therapy treatments, including total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy
- Prepares equipment and room for patients
- Uses appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure safety
- Performs quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines
- Provides on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists
