Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics
Location
- Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Schedule

- 36 hours per week

Overview
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist II role.
- Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff.
- May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina.
- 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience.
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year.
- Respiratory Therapist experience.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, or CPFT.
- Experience in an acute care setting.
- Experience with high frequency oscillator ventilation within the last 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Peds, NICU, and/or PICU in a hospital setting for at least 2 years.
- EPIC familiarity.
- ECMO experience.
- Oscillator experience within the last 5 years.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Airway management.
- Mechanical ventilator management.
- Oxygen therapy.
- Aerosol therapy.
- Respiratory care procedures and treatments.
- Basic bedside pulmonary function testing.
- Breathing exercises.
- Arterial punctures.
- Aspiration of established airways.
- Tracheostomy care.
- Tracheostomy tube changes.
- Endotracheal intubations and extubations.
- Pulmonary Function Testing as needed.
- Ventilator setup, function verification, monitoring, and weaning techniques.
- Carolina Air Care transport of pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per UNC Air Care Protocol.
- Respiratory care and advanced practice procedures per UNC Air Care Protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intravenous insertion, Chest Tube insertion, Needle Decompression, ABG's, and Blood Glucose monitoring.
- ECMO management for cardiac and respiratory support of patients when working with ECMO.
