Respiratory Therapist II - Pediatrics
Location
- Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Schedule
- Days, 36 hours per week
- 13-week contract
- May be required to be on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pediatric Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
- 2 years of Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience
- Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Respiratory Therapist experience
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Must have at least one of the following depending upon practice area: ACLS, NRP, PALS, CPFT, or an advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation in Bronchoscopy Lab
- ECMO management experience
- Pulmonary Function Testing experience
- Tracheostomy care experience
- Endotracheal intubations and extubations experience
- Specialized ventilator modes experience
- Advanced practice procedures including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, and ABGs
- All certifications must be maintained as required by the certifying body
Role Overview
- Provides respiratory care for pediatric patients, including airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiratory care procedures, and treatments
- May perform pulmonary function testing as needed
- May transport pediatric and neonatal patients from referral hospitals per protocol
- May perform advanced practice procedures per protocol, including UAC, UVC, IV insertion, chest tube insertion, needle decompression, ABGs, and blood glucose monitoring
- May manage ECMO for cardiac and respiratory support of patients
- Functions independently with minimal supervision and serves as a resource to other staff
