Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Interventional Radiology (Contract)

Location: New York, NY
Specialty: Interventional Radiology Nursing
Employment Type: Staffing - Supplier Sourced
Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each


Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, quality nursing care to patients in the Radiology Department, applying nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage patient care and improve outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care using Relationship Centered Care principles and nursing process.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs; apply critical thinking in care management.
  • Integrate assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate care plans.
  • Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Patient Experience

  • Model Relationship Centered Care through admission welcome, bedside shift reports, purposeful rounding, medication review, discharge wrap-up, and collaboration with physicians.
  • Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
  • Address patient/family concerns and escalate as needed.
  • Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
  • Support staff in evidence-based patient care practices.
  • Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing key patient needs.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify barriers to quality.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills essential to patient safety.
  • Implement process improvements based on evidence and institutional standards.
  • Participate in peer and institutional reviews.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement projects and nursing research.
  • Contribute to compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Apply high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
  • Escalate safety hazards following institutional protocols.
  • Document nursing practice accurately to support quality initiatives.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
  • Escalate resource deficits appropriately.
  • Use patient-focused, cost-effective approaches to resource management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate patient throughput during shifts.

Professional Development

  • Support clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Advance clinical competence from novice to expert level.
  • Maintain a professional image and communicate with empathy and respect.
  • Incorporate ethical principles in decision-making.
  • Promote lifelong learning, inquiry, and innovation.
  • Acquire knowledge relevant to role, specialty, and community health needs.
  • Participate in shared decision-making through councils and committees.

Required Qualifications

  • Current New York State RN License
  • BLS and ACLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years RN experience, including ambulatory, radiation safety, and post-procedural care
  • EPIC electronic health record experience highly preferred
  • Travel experience preferred for travel positions (not required for per diem)

Contract Length

Approximately 13 weeks (89 days rounded to nearest week)
