Registered Nurse (RN) - Binghamton, New York

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through diagnosis, treatment, and advocacy. The RN ensures compliance with professional standards and promotes a patient-centered, caring, and healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for a group of patients.
  • Serve as primary or accountable nurse as assigned.
  • Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management.
  • Administer medications safely according to policy.
  • Manage resources effectively including staffing, time, and supplies.
  • Comply with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Participate in Nursing Shared Governance, improvement initiatives, and peer review.
  • Engage in professional development and complete mandatory education.
  • Integrate nursing research and evidence-based practice.
  • Support learning for new employees and students.
  • Adhere to organizational values and perform other assigned duties.

  • 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6 months to 3 years of nursing (RN) experience.
  • 0 to 3 years of management experience.
  • 5+ years of direct nursing experience.
  • Strong collaboration, communication (verbal & written), judgment, critical thinking, organizational skills, planning, problem solving, quality focus, reliability, and safety/risk management.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Previous clinical nursing experience in acute care or ambulatory settings.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Certifications & Licensure

  • Required: Current New York State RN License, BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
  • Preferred: Professional certification in a related nursing specialty; relevant skills certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC as required by unit.
