Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (IMC - ED)
Location: Brooklyn, New York
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing - DPC
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for prescribing and coordinating nursing care in accordance with The New York State Nursing Practice Act. Care delivery is collaborative with healthcare team members and addresses patient and family needs. Services are provided to patients ranging from newborn to adult.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assessment
- Assess physical, social, behavioral, and mental status through observation, interview, and medical record review.
- Collect history and data from patients and care providers.
- Determine mobility, sensory deficits, and skin condition; adjust care plans accordingly.
- Document nursing assessments including psychosocial, environmental, and educational factors.
- Review data from other healthcare team members (medical/surgical history, therapist reports, physician notes).
- Identify medical problems related to psychological/mental illness and medication use.
- Communicate findings with social workers, case managers, therapists, and physicians.
Planning
- Identify and address admission needs based on acute medical/surgical diagnoses and symptoms.
- Assess patient education and learning needs.
- Make appropriate referrals to other disciplines and document them.
Physical Demands
- Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, and some repetitive motions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of emergency nursing experience.
- Clinical skills in nursing care and patient management including:
- Symptom identification
- Disease management
- Treatment modalities
- Medication administration
- Crisis intervention in medical/surgical and critical emergencies.
- Critical thinking in patient assessment and interventions.
- Infection control procedures and protocols.
- Address psychosocial needs of critically ill patients.
- Provide health teaching and medication instructions to patients and families.
- Perform procedures according to established standards of care.
- Investigate and report unusual occurrences and patient care incidents.
- Act as a patient advocate.
Evaluation
- Revise patient care plans based on intervention outcomes in collaboration with healthcare team.
Language Skills
- Effective verbal and written communication in English.
Education & Licensure
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
- New York State RN License.
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications.
Preferred
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (preferred).
This position is ideal for experienced emergency nurses seeking a clinical nursing role in an Intermediate Care/ED setting.
