Job Opportunity: IMC - RN - Operating Room Nurse

Location: Brooklyn, New York

Job Summary

• Responsible for providing nursing care to surgical patients throughout the operative process, from preoperative interventions to post-operative assessments.
• Accountable for planning, executing, conducting, and evaluating both direct and indirect nursing care in the operating room.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform ongoing assessments focusing on physiologic, cognitive, and cultural diversity of patients.
• Determine mobility, sensory deficits, prostheses use, and skin condition; adjust care plans accordingly.
• Supervise and direct patient care in the operating suite, ensuring proper techniques are used.
• Maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments used during surgery.
• Collaborate with physicians and other clinical disciplines to plan interventions.
• Serve as a scrub nurse when necessary.
• Prepare the operative area, position patients, and adjust the operative table.
• Evaluate and document patient responses and outcomes; revise care plans as needed.
• Ensure all supplies and equipment are sterile and available.
• Observe changes in patient condition and work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Administer and chart medications; ensure proper care and labeling of specimens.
• Direct other staff when necessary and report unusual occurrences to the surgeon.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Operating Room setting.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Certifications & Licensure

• New York State RN License required.
• BLS certification required.
