Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (CT Tech 1)

Location: Normal, Illinois

Job Description

• Position patients correctly using proper immobilization techniques.
• Perform optimal CT scans using correct technical factors, shielding, and protocols based on patient diagnosis and history.
• Use technical factors in accordance with American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines to minimize radiation exposure while obtaining diagnostic quality scans.
• Perform CT angiography, 3D imaging, MIPS, VR, Vessel Analysis, and MPRs. Post-process computer data to enhance exams for radiologist interpretation using appropriate reconstruction software.
• Follow CT Department workflow including patient identification, history acquisition, order verification, scanning, image transmission to PACS, documentation, and case completion in Meditech.
• Operate CT support equipment such as independent workstations, pressure injectors, PACS, and EPIC systems.
• Initiate IVs for contrast media administration following department policies and standard precautions.
• Prepare patients by explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Transport and assist patients as needed during procedures, continuously monitor patient condition.
• Collaborate with radiologists to tailor protocols to patient exam requirements.
• Document and charge for supplies used during exams.
• Record confidential patient history, charge data, allergic reactions, IV extravasations, or unusual occurrences; initiate incident reports as necessary.
• Maintain licensure and continuing education.
• Ensure proper exam administration and consult providers as needed.

Required Education

• Certificate of Completion from Radiologic Technology Program
  OR
• College Diploma in a Related Field

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Licensed Radiologic Technologist - Radiography - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• Registered in Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• And one of the following:

  • Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist (CNCT)
    OR
  • Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

• No indication that prior travel experience is required

This position is suitable for CT Technologists who meet the certification and licensure requirements and are comfortable performing a full range of CT imaging procedures including contrast administration and patient care.
