Description
Nuclear Medicine Technologist
Location: Hackensack, New Jersey
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Job Summary
- Operate Nuclear Medicine equipment and provide immobilization devices as needed.
- Evaluate radio images using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic quality.
- Provide radiation protection for self and patients following safety protocols.
- Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals.
- Perform radionuclide procedures including organ imaging, function studies, and assist physicians with therapeutic radioisotope use.
- Prepare radioactive tracer compounds and calibrate equipment.
- Inspect radiopharmaceutical packages per state and NRC guidelines.
- Maintain records of radioactive materials in compliance with regulations.
- Ensure cleanliness and contamination-free conditions of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
- Follow NRC, State, and JCAHO guidelines.
- Rotate through assignments such as Cardiology and PET/CT.
- Perform clerical duties including use of EPIC, Teletracking, Nuclear Medicine Information System, patient scheduling, and processing.
- Work scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends; overtime and on-call as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, adapting to their specific needs (age, culture, language, disabilities).
- Adhere to organizational policies and standards of behavior.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in a busy hospital setting.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Certifications & Licensure
- Valid NJDEP license.
- ARRT or NMTCB registry required.
- BLS certification by American Heart Association required.
