Job Opportunity: Administrative Nurse Coordinator

Location: Brooklyn, New York
Specialty: Administrative Nurse Coordinator (Behavioral Health Medical Center)
Employment Type: Clinical - Nursing - IPC
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Summary

  • Coordinate nursing services during evening and night shifts.
  • Ensure adherence to nursing practice standards and patient care protocols.
  • Apply management theory, labor relations, and hospital policies effectively.
  • Promote career development and teamwork among nursing staff.
  • Communicate organizational information promptly to staff.
  • Provide authority and resources for staff to take necessary actions.
  • Develop and participate in educational programs and professional development activities.
  • Utilize nursing research and evidence-based practices to improve quality of care.
  • Maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Implement hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory codes relevant to the department.
  • Manage unit operations in collaboration with the Director.
  • Conduct rounds to evaluate standards adherence and support nursing personnel.
  • Assess patient safety measures including restraints, observation, falls, and risks.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints, incidents, and problems.
  • Address staffing needs for current and upcoming shifts.
  • Participate in hospital code responses and ensure adequate resources.
  • Ensure compliance with nursing philosophy and ethical standards.
  • Foster constructive team relationships and resolve conflicts positively.
  • Report patient safety and shift-related issues for follow-up.
  • Establish and monitor customer service improvement goals focused on patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain effective departmental communication plans.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years in a leadership role, preferably in healthcare.
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word for data trending and documentation.
  • Knowledge of quality improvement models, CQI methods, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and staff levels.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, respect, and excellent communication skills.
  • Competency in clinical specialty and leadership/administrative skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Ability to see, hear, read, and write English effectively.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing school (required).
  • Master’s degree in Nursing (preferred).

Certifications & Licensure

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
  • Certification in area of specialty (required).
