CT Tech - CMH Cat Scan
Location: Peoria, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical-Allied
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform routine and specialized CT examinations, adapting procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results.
- Prepare patients for examinations and exercise independent judgment under radiologist direction.
- Ensure accurate and complete examinations following Medical Imaging guidelines, policies, and standards for patients of all ages.
- Maintain working knowledge of CT equipment operation (hardware and software), including CT 1, CT 2, workstations, and printers.
- Exhibit competency in performing and filming CT radiographic and specialized procedures.
- Assist radiologists with invasive procedures, sterile tray setup, catheters, guidewires, lab/pathology orders, and scheduling.
- Obtain and document accurate pre- and post-procedure information.
- Follow JCAHO patient safety goals and maintain quality care throughout procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and report problems appropriately.
- Maintain clean work area, stock supplies, and verify accessories.
- Support Medical Imaging department functions to meet patient needs and expectations.
- Process films and paperwork promptly to ensure timely physician reporting.
- Coordinate patient flow efficiently, including patient transport to/from the department.
- Complete all required fields in the HIS STAR Radiology system accurately.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, supporting QA, QC, and QI programs.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills in patient moving and handling, promoting safety with lift equipment.
- Train and mentor fellow technologists and students, sharing knowledge and fostering a productive learning environment.
- Display professionalism and foster mutual respect among team members.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years of applicable CT tech experience (highest required years of experience).
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with independent judgment.
- Ability to set priorities, organize work, and respond appropriately to customers and coworkers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work well with others.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate facts professionally.
- Basic reading, writing, oral English, and computer skills.
- Multicultural sensitivity and customer/patient focus.
- Accountability and professionalism.
- Stand-by call availability required.
Education
- Required: Associate's Degree
Certifications & Licensure
- ARRT (CT) Certification
- Illinois State Radiologic Technologist License (IMEA)
- BLS (American Heart Association)
